Love Versus Mission
She was only five when her father left her mother for a younger woman. She was scarred and decided to build high walls around her heart, high enough for any man to find it difficult to climb on.
She had never fallen as hard as she did for Allen. For him, he didn't have to climb up those walls, she let him in.
Allen was an exchange student and she met him in her second year in college. She wasn't attracted to him at first, he was just a fine exchange student who looked like a jerk. Allen was a popular guy who was known for his wonderful skills in football. He gave out the bad boy nerdy vibes that gave her chills.
Jane was her name, the classy and smart girl who was respected for her high standards. She unlike many girls, wasn't on the list of pretty girlfriends timetable for the popular guys.
It made her laugh how a guy who didn't even try could sway her. On the day she started having feelings for him, her best friend, Justin picked it up. He was the only guy she allowed in her space and she had protected him from the mean guys back in highschool.
"You like him don't you?" Justin inquired "I don't know why everyone thinks I like Allen. Goodness! I've never even looked his side before" Jane tried to protect her little secret. "Allen? I was talking about Joe. I'm so surprised right now!" Justin said in a sarcastic tone. "Really? Do you have to do this?" Jane snapped rolling her eyes in annoyance. "Why didn't you tell me? And no one thinks you like him. You're just being delusional" Justin replied laughing. "I'm damn serious Justin! I'm going home."
Jane fantasized about talking with Allen and sharing a kiss with him. It was always in her head but her actions contrasted her feelings.
She soon got tired after a long while of avoiding him and decided to walk up to him, "Hi Allen, can you please help me with my science project, I'm having issues..." "Hi Jane, I'm busy right now. Maybe next time" he cut her short and left.
Jane was so upset and kept overthinking for days until she finally decided to let it out. She ran down to rant to Justin, "He tur..." just before she could finish her statement, she saw Justin and Allen with flowers in his hand. "Hi Jane" Allen said with his left hand scratching his head. "Hi...I thought...wait...what are you doing in my house? She sounded confused.
"I should leave both of you... I'm so famished" Justin left trying to avoid the awkward situation.
"I..." Jane and Allen said at the same time. "You should speak first..." they both chorused . "Ladies first." Allen finally said. "Why are you here?" Jane asked. "You said you were having issues with your science project and so I thought I shouldn't come empty handed. Here are flowers for you, I hope you like them." Allen said. "Oh thank you. They're my favorites. I wonder how you knew I love tulips. Come in." Jane replied.
She invited him to her room and for the first time she felt like his eyes were like magnets dragging her closer to him. She swallowed hard and left her door wide open. "You also don't like closing your door? Interesting I do that too" Allen said cutting her from her wild thoughts.
"Oh yes! I mean, no! It's just that erm it's so hot in here I think I'm gonna burn" She replied and chuckled. "Wow, I must say you are really something Miss Smithy" Allen replied. "Now, let's get to work Jane. I have a football practice tonight and I really need to rest. If you don't mind you could...never mind let's start please" he said grinning from ear to ear. Allen taught her what she already knew with so much passion and enthusiasm. She wasn't really listening to him. She was examining his features, his blue eyes deep like the sea, his pointed and perfectly shaped nose, His beautiful blonde hair that fell perfectly backwards...his long hair that rhymed with his long blonde eyelashes and full brows. She loved his chiseled chin and would kill to stare at him all the days of her life. Allen noticed she was lost and cleared his throat "Miss Smithy, I must be on my way now. I hope you understand all I've been explaining. I know you do. Bye see you later." He was about to leave when she dragged him to herself and shut her door. She whispered in his ear "I would love to watch you practice for football today". "Oh...erm...yeah...I was going to ask you if you didn't mind...I... would..." Allen said trying to catch his breath. "Wait for me downstairs" Jane said and gently pushed him out of her room.
She walked majestically downstairs and Allen couldn't just take his eyes off her. He wondered where he was all his life. From the way her perfectly styled blonde hair gracefully danced as she walked, to the way her innocent and promising amber eyes stared back at him, to the way her lips called him. He had almost forgotten what brought him to her in the first place. He had forgotten his mission - the deal with the devil himself ...
All he wanted to do at that moment was to love her recklessly and cherish her like precious stones.
"I could lose this game to them right now ..." he said under his breath as he took her hands.
