An Unexplainable Life

"Hush now, child," I said as I cajoled the wailing child to rest

The dead night awoke to her loud sobbing and groaned in displeasure. A string of howls echoed and the owls hooted in response. It was a night cry, one that signified their nocturnal nature and acknowledged the presence of another.

I looked at the child and was overwhelmed by sadness. Her fate was sealed from her first breath, nothing awaited her in this realm except suffering and pain.

"Hush now, hush," I said softly

She was testing the strain of her vocal cord with her echoing screams. Nothing I did soothed her troubles and all she did was wail. I felt my heart grow heavy with each symphony and I looked to the sky.

"Does she have to suffer?" I asked softly

"Let it pass, I beg of thee, let it pass"

Silence was the reply I got. I shook my head and looked at the child. Her wail had subsided and she was staring into the night sky. Dark as it was without its Queen in sight, it still stood regal and majestic with its sleeves rolled up.

The child yawned and her eyes sparked with darkness. She recognized her extension in a twinkle, kindred spirits that kindle in a mix and put me at ease.

The soft wind caressed my skin, ridding my pores of the specks of sadness and I breathe in peace.

"Let me tell you a story," I said to the child

Once upon a time, only the time was unknown. No one knows the beginning or end of this story as it has no start and no finish.

The loop began before the tale was told. The beginning is its end, and its end is the beginning. This story only tells of one loop, no one knows if the events are the same in a chain. What is known is that the loop will never end.

The first whisper was heard when the moon first appeared. It wasn't the beginning but it was a beginning.

A child was born in the desert to a blind woman. With no sight and aid, she raised the child alone. The sky sent no rain nor did the ground bring forth droplets. The Oasis was the only source of life available to the blind woman and her child.

As the child grew so did the woman grow frail. Flesh faded, bones weakened, and blood dried up. She became a fraction of a being overtime and before she died, these words escaped her lips.

"You never should have existed.

A mistake is what you are

The heavens curse you

The Earth curse you

Neither sea nor land shall accept you

Wind and current shall spit you out

You shall have no home

Your loins shall father no offspring

Pain and suffering are all that will await you"

The wind carried her words to the heavens on a feather and it was signed by the Cosmo in exchange for her soul.

Her words stole her breath and laid a path of thorns and pickles. The child grew in blood and without flesh. His waking hours were filled with agony and his dead hours were without rest.

Tired of his existence, he cried to the Entities beyond the realm in anguish. The Earth groaned and turned but no answer was given.

Dejected and dispirited, he decided to end it all. He traveled to the realm beneath his realm to offer what was left of his soul to the King of the Seven Hells. Only, he was met by the Hoaxer who promised him a curse disguised as a blessing.

"I'll roll the curse away," He said

"A new fate you shall receive.

One where you shall rule over the realm that cursed you.

The land and sea shall bow to your shadow.

Death shall trail the path and corner post.

Where your feet bless

Curse shall engulf.

All these and more are yours,

but in exchange, I want your existence"

The sky thundered its disapproval and the sea roared its warning but he paid no heed and struck the deal in blood and bone.

What came next was chaos and mayhem. His fate did change but not in the expected way. His mother's curse was replaced by another, one that left Nature weeping for her offspring.

The land was drenched and the sea was bathed in blood. Death forged paths wherever he went. Chaos engulfed the realm and spread its tentacles to the realms known and unknown.

The Earth cried out in pain to the Cosmo

"How long do you intend to watch? Save me!" She cried

The Cosmo hearkened to her and stretched its hands. With a flick, the child's soul was destroyed and peace returned. Only it was a hoax, one I was a fool to believe.

The child was gone but that was the beginning of my torment. His existence was promised, it meant he was stuck in a loop. A life he would live over and over again. For him, his path was set in blood and bone, never to derail or falter.

The End

"Give me my child" pleaded the frail woman

I looked to her and signed

"I did what needed to be done"

Her pupils went wide as she felt her child. Her fingers traced the little body, sticky and broken. A string of screams escaped her throat and pierced the dead night, waking it up for the second time that night.

In her hands lay the wailing child with no flesh and drenched with blood. Her head was wrung leaving the skull popped.

I felt no pain or remorse for this wasn't my first kill. I had lost count of how many existence of the child I had to kill.

What comes next was set in stone but in what form was the mystery. A mystery I could never solve until the last minute.

One thing was certain though, I'll be here to kill it whenever it becomes clearer.
