It had been 2 years since I saw Nime and Ose, so i was really exicted Christmas was going to be in Omavovwe (My mother's village), but what was more exciting was that I was going to see my cousins.

My cousins and I fought like we were not of the same blood but for every Christmas we spent together, we had a ritual of visiting all my relatives to ask for money, and every year we collected at least ₦100,000.

So every year we spent together, we performed this ritual and at the end of the day, we would give part of the money to Nime and Ose while we kept the rest for ourselves.

Personally, i always saved mine but this year was different. After we were done collecting, we decided to give Nime & Ose ₦50,000 and when we shared the rest amomgst ourselves, we had ₦10,000 each.

In a Nigerian Christmas celebration, Jollof rice and chicken is one of the many things that are non-negotiable so what's a Christmas without jollof rice and chicken?

I still had my money on me when i went to visit my friend Omos. Unlike the previous years, i noticed that they didn't have chickens running round the compound, i asked her about it and she said they didn't have money that year to purchase chicken for the Christmas, and so i decided to save her Christmas by solving the money problem, when she wasn't looking, i slipped the money into the drawer in her room and when i got home, i called her to tell her santa left a gift for her. The money wasn't much but I'm glad i saved Christmas or the food at least...
