Beautiful sky of the night
Holding your gaze with its stars
Insects chirping in delight
Unaware of your existence but somehow making you aware of theirs
The darkness of the night increases one’s fright
and releases the fears that you hid behind bars
You mutter a word of prayer and shut your eyes real tight
Silently hoping and silently waiting for the morning light.
This night feels longer than one expects
And the morning light is no where in sight
So you lay your head back and decide to enjoy the night
The chirping of insects suddenly sounds like the perfect lullaby
And the croaking of frogs might be the best back up
The stars though, you wonder how they shine so bright
So you slowly fall in love with the night
And find yourself in another land
Where you danced under the moonlight
And the stars were jealous that you stole the spotlight
The trees around seemed to clap and cheer at your performance
You were living your dreams in your dreams.
You wake up to the morning light
that you once hoped for but was no where in sight
You realise you miss the night
And the dream! You’d like to live it over again
So you go about your day silently hoping, silently waiting for another beautiful night.
