Chapter 1: The Seer's Burden

The city streets bustled with the rhythm of life, each heartbeat a testament to the vitality that pulsed through its veins. Amidst the throng of humanity, one figure stood apart, their gaze piercing through the facade of normalcy to the unseen currents that flowed beneath.

Meet our, Elias, a solitary soul burdened with the gift—or curse—of seeing the cause of death etched upon the souls of others. For Elias, the world was a tapestry of fate, woven with threads of life and death, joy and sorrow.

As Elias navigated the crowded streets, their eyes swept over the faces of passersby, each bearing the weight of their own destiny. "Car accident," "heart attack," "old age"—the silent proclamations whispered through the ether, a constant reminder of the fragility of existence.

But today was different. Today, the city held its breath, gripped by a fear that transcended the mundane fears of everyday life. Today, every face Elias beheld bore the same grim epitaph: “plague."

The realization sent a shiver down Elias's spine, for never before had they witnessed such uniformity in death. The streets, once teeming with life, now lay deserted, save for the occasional soul shrouded in despair.

Seeking solace in the company of an old friend, he made his way to a quaint restaurant nestled amidst the chaos of the city, where his friend awaits him. There, amidst the aroma of sampled food and the soft murmur of conversation, they found refuge from the storm raging outside.

"Something troubles you, my friend," remarked Alex, Elias's confidant and fellow seeker of truths hidden beneath the surface of reality.

Elias sighed heavily, the weight of their burden pressing down upon them like an oppressive fog. "It's the plague," he confessed, his voice barely above a whisper. "Every soul I see, every face I meet—it bears the same mark of death."

Alex's brow furrowed in concern, his eyes reflecting the gravity of the situation. "The plague," he mused, his voice tinged with sorrow. "A scourge upon the land, a specter of death haunting the hearts of all who dwell within its shadow."

The conversation ebbed and flowed, weaving through the tapestry of shared memories and unspoken fears. As Elias recounted the events of the day, Alex listened with rapt attention, his keen mind probing the depths of the revelation.

"The plague is more than a physical ailment," Alex ventured, his words heavy with significance. "It is a manifestation of deeper truths, a reckoning with our own mortality and the fragility of existence."

Elias nodded in silent agreement, their thoughts drifting to the countless souls whose lives hung in the balance. "But what can be done?" they wondered aloud, their voice tinged with desperation.

Alex's gaze hardened with resolve, his jaw set in determination. "We must seek out the source of this plague, confront the darkness that threatens to engulf us," he declared, his words a rallying cry amidst the encroaching despair.

And so, with hearts heavy yet spirits unyielding, Elias and Alex embarked upon a journey into the heart of darkness, their fates intertwined in a dance of destiny and defiance.
