You and I

I saw you for the first time in the Law campus. You sat there with a can of Fearless, scrolling through your phone with a smile on your face.

At first, I thought you were texting someone who made your heart beat the way mine did. Until one of your friends came and you showed him a Tiktok video.

You looked so excited, bouncing your legs to the best of the music. It was a Kiss Daniel song, one I liked so much and it made me feel closer to you. For the next half hour, I watched as more of your friends joined in and you taught them the trending dance moves.

If you knew I was a dancer, maybe you would have invited me too. Still, I was content with watching you enjoy yourself till my classes started for the day. Before I left, I made sure you noticed me.

Though our eyes didn't meet, you would remember me for a long time. It was the beginning of something beautiful, that first bump on Tuesday morning.

On our wedding day, three years later, I asked you. "Do you remember the girl who passed by and hit your shoulder? That was me."

You smiled with relief and pulled me into a hug, and right there, I knew we would always be together. You and I.
