Every Saturday, I frequented the supermarket, hoping to catch a glimpse of my mysterious lady again. But I got disappointed each time. My grandma would always ask why I liked assisting her every Saturday, and I lied to her, telling her that I was doing research for a school project.
Thinking I wouldn't see her again, I lessened my visits to the supermarket on Saturdays and went on weekdays instead. But I still didn't encounter my mysterious lady. For some reason, I couldn't get her out of my head; it was as if her image had been implanted there for a long time.
One fateful night, I had left my assignment in the supermarket, and I was supposed to submit it the next day. To make matters worse, it was raining heavily, and the supermarket would be closed in less than an hour. Despite the heavy downpour, I dashed out into the rain with my red umbrella - the same one I had bought to remember my mysterious lady.
A few meters from the supermarket, I saw her - my mysterious lady - stepping out of the store, her hands carrying two heavy bags. She didn't have an umbrella with her, so she stood in the rain, hoping to see a taxi. I didn't know what had gotten into me, but I found myself running towards her.
As I got closer to her, I held the umbrella over her head to shield her from the rain while I tried to catch my breath. She stared at me with surprise, and I got a closer look at her face - she was the finest creature my eyes had ever beheld. She had doe eyes, small red lips, and a small pointed nose. Her hair was in a messy bun, and she wore a red hoodie and simple white shorts.
"Thank you," she muttered in a soft tone, and I just nodded, smiling sheepishly. "I'm Red," she introduced, but I didn't respond. I just stupidly stared at her lips as they moved when she spoke. I didn't realize she had been waiting for a response until a taxi stopped by, and she got in and waved at me.
I got home that night after getting my assignment, but I couldn't do anything except lie on my bed and weep. I couldn't believe I had finally met my mysterious lady, and she was even more beautiful than I had imagined. But I had blown my chance to talk to her, and now she was gone.
