ARE WE TRULY FREE?

This is the beginning of another testament like Genesis.

Today we remember the crosses our fathers bore, the tears they cried and the blood that gushed out of their bodies for us to raise a banner saying we’re free.

But the question is, are we truly free?

Are we free from the tempest of insecurity, the vanities of political charity, the loud echoes of corruption, The unstable figures in our election

Are we truly free from the Religious/ethnic extremities, we call ourselves one, when we are neighboring enemies.

Are we free from toiling as average civil servants and watch snakes get the alerts.

Are we free from the depressing thoughts of always beholding the leaders of today flood the Streets in blood and sweat while the leaders of yesterday show up in our tomorrow like nightmares.

Are we free from sitting for hours watching our hopes manipulated by the last hope of the common man.

Are we free from seeing the natural wealth of our nation glow the skin tones and increase the belly sizes of our politicians. Our hopes have been swallowed up by pot holes and pot bellies.

Are we truly free, when our entertainment industry is taken over by evil that has spilled the blood of young lives and has made them More Bad(Mo-bad)

Are we truly free, when the blood of our young people still couldn’t enable free passes at our tollgates.

Are we truly free, when we cast votes in an election and watch INEC manipulate the scores like VAR.

Are we truly free, when the burning dreams of our youths are put off by extinguishers with agbada and senators.

Are we truly free, when the standard of living is killing the living.

Well, It is true that we’re one indivisible and indissoluble country, with rich cultures and heroic historical antecedents. .

It is true that we’re the largest economy in Africa.

But sadly, these truths are realities we only dream about.

I THINK NIGERIA IS LIKE A DREAM STRUGGLING TO COME TO PASS.

There is a great proverb — that until the lions have their own historians, the history of the hunt will always glorify the hunter.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY.

NIGERIA.
