Chapter One

As Peace stepped off the plane, she was greeted by the warm Texas air and the sleek, modern architecture of the airport. With over 70 million passengers annually, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) in Texas is one of the busiest airports in the world, and Peace felt a thrill of excitement as she made her way to baggage claim. After collecting her luggage, Peace followed the signs to the arrivals area, where she was met with a sea of faces and a cacophony of sounds. She spotted a sign with her name and made her way towards it, where a friendly driver was waiting to take her to her family friend's house.

"Welcome to Texas!" the driver exclaimed, helping Peace with her bags. "I'm glad you're here. The traffic is looking good, so we should be at your friend's house in about 20 minutes."

"Thank you so much," Peace replied. "I'm excited to be here. What's the weather like usually? I've heard it's hot."

"Yes, it can get pretty hot during the summer," the driver said with a chuckle. "But the winters are mild, and the spring is beautiful with all the wildflowers blooming. You'll get used to it in no time. What brings you to Texas?"

"I'm here for my master's degree," Peace said, her eyes lighting up with excitement. "I'm looking forward to studying and exploring the city."

The driver nodded. "You'll love it here. There's always something to do, and the people are friendly. You'll fit right in."

As they drove, the Texas landscape unfolded before Peace's eyes. The driver pointed out local landmarks and shared tips on navigating the city. Peace listened intently, taking in the sights and sounds of her new home. They passed by sprawling parks, trendy restaurants, and vibrant neighborhoods, each with its own unique character.

The 20-minute drive flew by, and soon they pulled up to a cozy house on a quiet street. "We're here," the driver said, smiling.

Peace's face lit up as she saw her family friend, Auntie Runor, waiting at the door with a warm smile. "Welcome, Peace!" Auntie Runor exclaimed, enveloping her in a hug. "I'm so glad you're here. Let's get you settled in."

Peace smiled, feeling a sense of relief and gratitude. She was excited to start her new life in Texas and grateful for Auntie Runor's hospitality.

"Thank you so much for having me, Auntie," Peace said, hugging her back.

"It's my pleasure, dear," Auntie Runor replied. "You're family. Now, let's get your bags inside and get you comfortable. We can catch up over dinner."

Peace nodded, feeling a sense of belonging wash over her. She knew she was in good hands with Auntie Runor.
