“The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds of flour until it worked all through the dough.” – Matthew 13:33

In a world that often celebrates what is seen and applauds the obvious, The Invisible Hands, Mighty Impact tells a modern parable of intercession—the ministry many overlook, yet heaven treasures deeply.

Through a simple but powerful story, this book paints a vivid picture of how unseen prayers, like yeast in dough, quietly strengthen and sustain the Body of Christ. It is a reminder that God values even the acts of service the world fails to notice.

This short read will inspire intercessors, encourage believers to value prayer, and challenge the church to recognize the hidden power working behind the scenes.

Kelechi, Phoebe, Bright and Hillary were all in an intercessory Group at church. They were four young people who carried similar burdens for prayer and intercession but were never really appreciated or acknowledged for their sacrifice in the place of prayer on behalf of the church. Also, their prayer group wasn't listed as part of the church’s departments. So, they often faced some disappointments.

“But we have been praying consistently for the past 12 months, yet no one acknowledges us.”

Phoebe said to Bright one afternoon after the church service had just been concluded. The pastor had appreciated the media, usher, choir, sanitary and maintenance departments, but said nothing about the intercessary group. She felt irritated and scoffed when she saw chorister Ayo smiling.

“I thought I was the only one who noticed. I've just been keeping silent all these while. It's not fair!” Bright cried out in frustration.

“Exactly! Do you know how many times I've had to sacrifice other activities just to join the group to pray? Or how many times I've had to trek home after meeting because I had no transport fare?” Phoebe asked, shaking her head sadly.

“It is well, sis. It just saddens my heart to see that the church we are labouring to pray for, offers no form of recognition or appreciation to us. I can never forget the day I almost got hit by a truck because of our prayer meeting.”

No one knew that these ladies were hurting deeply and were gradually getting bitter. Days passed and they stopped attending the prayer meetings. Kelechi and Hillary were quite worried as they stopped coming to church altogether and shut them out. They soon decided to report to the pastor about the recent happenings since they were so strange.

  “Good morning Pastor Bolaji.”

“Good morning sir.”

Kelechi and Hillary greeted as the pastor nodded, gesturing for them to sit. He looked quite sober.

“It's nice to see you both. How are you?”

“We’re good, thank you sir. How about you?” Hillary asked.

“Oh well I thank God for His mercies.” he said smiling a little.

“Okay, we wanted to bring something to   your notice sir.” Kelechi went on to explain the sudden disappearance of Bright and Phoebe and how they had refused talking to them or anyone else at church.

Pastor Bolaji looked sad and thoughtful. Then he called the two ladies on the phone, saying they'll have to come at a rescheduled time to resolve the issue.

After a word of prayer, they left.

“I had a dream that's left me feeling unsettled for days.” Pastor Bolaji said, looking very bothered.

“I’d like to hear it. We'll pray together afterwards.” His wife said, nodding for him to go on as he signed.

“There was a beautiful storey building in my dream. It was so magnificent and luxurious- almost ethereal. Then I looked down and saw the giant building was held by four massive pillars. They looked so sturdy and reassuring, I was quite surprised they were able to support a huge edifice, but before I knew it, two of the pillars collapsed and the building started wobbling I woke up after then.”

There was a moment of silence as the couple tried to make sense of the dream.

“Oh Lord You are the revealer of secrets. Please give us the understanding of this dream. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.”

His wife said as they both chorused, ‘Amen’.

“True impact is not made by looking for attention rather, It brings the attention to you. When your Impact is felt and seen recognition and appreciation would follow. Phoebe, Bright…” Pastor Bolaji paused as the two ladies slightly bowed their heads.

“You shouldn't feel bad that your names weren't mentioned to appreciate your prayers. As small and basic as your group may seem, it is the most significant and important department every church should have. Not everyone has the grace to be called as an intercessor, praying behind closed doors for the body of Christ and petitioning heaven for answers. It is your calling, your assignment and whether you are appreciated for it or not, your focus should be on Jesus- what Jesus would say to you; “Well done good and faithful servant.””

“I'm sorry, Pastor for getting angry and leaving the church on impulse. These past few weeks of my life have been dry and unfulfilling. I'm sorry Kelechi, Hillary for leaving the intercessory team.” Bright said, sniffing slightly.

“Please Pastor, Kelechi, Hillary… pray for us. Pray that God would forgive us and restore his grace back to us. I regret getting carried away… I was too bitter to acknowledge the fact that God was indeed answering our prayers and the church was expanding. All I wanted was attention. I didn't like praying behind closed doors. I wanted to be seen, appreciated and recognised for what God called me to do. Have mercy oh Lord!”  Phoebe cried as the others joined hands and prayed.

“I think I now understand what the dream meant.” Pastor Bolaji said to his wife.

“Really? Go on!” she replied, excitement edging her tone.

“A little while after Phoebe and Bright returned to the church and their departments, I had the same dream again except this time, the two pillars that collapsed were built back, they supported the building and stopped it from wobbling.”

“Woaw… so what's the meaning?” his wife asked thoughtfully.

“It means the intercessary group was more important than I knew… in fact, it was the fervent, persistent and effective prayers of those sisters that kept the church standing. God's mercy prevailed through their intercessions and brought increase too. Indeed there is no service too small or insignificant in God's kingdom.”

“He told him still another Parable:The kingdom of Heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds of flour until it worked all through the dough.”

Who knew that crying out to God behind closed doors could provoke such mighty, bold testimonies?

This is a charge dear brethren, that you should be diligent in your assignment, in the church no matter how small, big, demanding or tasking it may be for it will go a very long way in building God's kingdom.

                      God bless you.

                         THE END.
