Why I Think Youths Should Have a Plan for the Future
By Solomon Oluwatimileyin David (DATTLEECO)
The future does not build itself; it is built by the decisions we make today. I strongly believe that every young person should have a clear plan for their future because planning gives direction, purpose, and motivation in life.
Many youths move through life without a vision, hoping that opportunities will somehow appear. However, success rarely comes by chance. It comes through preparation, discipline, and intentional planning. When a young person plans for the future, they begin to understand their goals, identify their strengths, and work consistently toward achieving them.
One inspiring example is the story of Jack Ma, the founder of Alibaba Group. As a young man, Jack Ma faced many failures. He was rejected from several jobs and even failed university entrance exams multiple times. At one point, he applied for dozens of jobs and was rejected by nearly all of them. Despite these challenges, he never stopped planning for a better future. His vision, persistence, and determination eventually led him to build one of the world’s largest technology companies. His story reminds young people that failure is not the end, but a step toward success when there is a clear vision and plan.
Planning also helps youths avoid distractions and negative influences. In a world full of challenges and uncertainties, having a clear vision helps young people stay focused on what truly matters. It encourages them to invest in education, develop valuable skills, and build character that will support their long-term success.
Another important reason for planning is that it prepares youths to contribute positively to society. Young people are the future leaders, innovators, and problem-solvers of the world. When they plan their future carefully, they position themselves to create solutions, inspire others, and make meaningful impacts in their communities.
As the Founder of DATTLEECO, I strongly believe in empowering youths through knowledge, creativity, and the right mindset. When young people learn to plan early, they begin to see possibilities instead of limitations.
The future belongs to those who prepare for it today. Therefore, every youth should develop a vision, set goals, and work diligently toward building the future they desire.
